Rab ne bana di jodi

Ok I admit it this is going to seem like a movie review but I don’t actually want to talk about the movie itself.

I for one liked it, I like stories about complex unsaid emotions, we all readily say ‘actions speak louder than words’ but we rarely acknowledge small kindnesses bestowed upon us.

Strutting your stuff and wearing your heart on the sleeve is a whole lot easier than to be truly kind and understanding enough to think things through another’s perspective.

If you choose to watch the movie, be prepared that it’s a simple but strange premise. Without giving the plot away I would like to say that if the protagonist had in fact not done something so unusual he would never win his fair ones affection. As the story is in fact a retelling some of the things that are recounted as coincidences may just have been contrived and the embellished to appear as such and therefore are still believable.

I know from experience that if he tried to woo her as himself he would come up repeatedly against a mental barrier and would either have gotten a lifetime worth of resentment or obeisance or both.
