I love the Delhi winters. We don’t have the thick blanket of snow or iced fountains (both of which I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in Europe) or even light snow fall or sleet.
However, It’s a great with dense fog and nippy cold winds. The mercury settles in at a pleasantly refreshing 7-18 degrees and the sky stays overcast without any rain.
This is the kind of winter that won’t kill you but will make sure you notice that it’s there.
It’s a great time to be here and makes you feel alive and active in the day (even visiting parks is a lot of fun as you have to keep moving to keep warm which means boisterous games) and still lets you enjoy the coziness of quilts in the nights.
I love all the various traditional winter foods like Gajar ka Halwa (it’s a decadent dessert made from carrots and milk), Mirchi ka Pakoras (Chili fritters) and Gajaks (a wide variety of crispy sweets made from sesame, dry fruits and jaggery) and the like.
